Market Bag Project - Photos

I did finish all the market bags I started. I'm not sure whether to sell them on line or work towards a big end of year outdoor market because they look so much better in real life. While I'm thinking about that and moving on to a new project, if I get anything finished today I'll let you know.
Till then here are some photos of the bags.

Just Call Me Square Eyes!

After my assesment and a drink with the girls I
re took all the photos and have just listed almost 300 buttons on Ebay all covered in cool vintage fabrics, three sizes.

The rest I'll take with me to the market when we have our Tafe stall.
I'm looking at it like it's The Apprentice and we have to make as much as we can in the set time! Yes I do watch too much TV.
Today after our presentation we went for a drink and it was like on Survivor where we lamented over all the lost ones, those who dropped out along the way for various reasons.
It was fun to remember them.

I had really good feedback on my outfit and left feeling very positive.
I've loved every minute of this course, except perhaps the technical drawing!! oh and the design boards....so much work.

Last two hurdles to go, the market and the fashion parade at the local Town Hall! Hopefully I will get some photos of the outfit then, mean while look at these beauties!!

Man I wish I could upload items as fast to my website as I can to Ebay!!

I found I hadn't lost completely all the photos they are in Quicktime and I am not able to get at them, I can watch but can't copy. If anyone knows how I can get them out and into iphoto without having to purchase the Quicktime Pro upgrade then I would be most grateful!!

Whew! All done, I'm hot!!

Well it's been a good day really, rained all day but I'm over that! Snuggled in here it was just perfect, the gas is on high so I can get the clothes dry - yep no clothes dryer. I keep putting off the purchase of a new dryer, doing it this way keeps the house warm and it's really quite quick. The downside is of course having the lounge room looking like a laundry room. But we can handle that. So while I have the 'dryer on' I'm making scrap packs, I think I got about 50 done and these are the last, a nice mix. All listed and dusted, now to dinner. Postscript: Went to bed with a splitting headache - too much gas! Think I'll be buying a dryer.

Vintage Gingham! Classic Lovelieness

I Heart Handmade Red Gingham ItemsImage by iheartlinen via Flickr

Yesterday I was super lucky and bought some darling fabrics from some sweet ladies. One bundle I brought home included quite a bit of vintage cotton gingham. I know gingham has not changed for many many years and I'm not even sure you could tell if it's VINTAGE gingham, a sure sign of an eternal classic! There are so many things you can do with gingham, but what to do with this lot I thought. I know what I'd like to do with it and that's make cards and buttons and hair bands and softies, so this led me to the idea of scrap packs. Here they are all done. Now I'm a roll I've just raided the fat quarter stack to make some more from vintage fabric. All the ones in my store sold last week so I know they are in demand. Off to work! Here's a photo I've borrowed (scroll over for credits) showing just some of the things you could do with gingham.

I made these for resin rings.

Just before we left to go to Sydney I poured a bunch of resin for rings. I just found out that resin pops out of the moulds much easier when it's fully cured, more so than when you rush in with my sort of impatience. However, I also found out that only 8 of the 12 will be any good since some have bubbles in really bad places, like on faces, so they will be put into the 'hang onto for possible use in the future' basket. Now I have the fun part which is the buffing, very satisfying and I feel muscles being used. Mind you they are only arm muscles but it all helps I imagine.

I made these

Some of the things I've been working on while I've been pretending to do nothing but sit at home and watch men coming and going in my backyard. The purses are listed on Ebay now and I think I'll put the poodles on Etsy or maybe Ebay.

A days work! BUTTONS GALORE!

I took a break from the purses today and concentrated on buttons. Got quite a few done and it does make for an impressive display. These sell well so it's always good to have lots in the shop. I enjoy making them but think I would have preferred painting! Or drawing, I miss drawing.

Working mind and hands!

Since I packed fabric last night till late, I had today free to make things. So I got stuck into my my next lot of purses. They will be made from a mix of vintage dress patterns, comic books and some vintage car ads. While finding the ads I watched the movie Bobbie. My pile of 1950s - 60s Saturday Evening Posts are great for so many things and while I was looking for car ads to use, I came across a few ads for other things I thought you might like. We've come a long way since smoking babies! I enjoyed watching that movie and looking through old magazines from that time! And here's something...... I worked for Philip Morris during the 80s!! A job I can't quite believe I had.
