Guessing Competition***WHERE ARE WE???

Ok, last weekend BossyGirl and I went to the beach, we grabbed a bacon and egg roll and chips from Hamburger Haven and ate it in the carpark before doing some rock pool wandering. These sea gulls ate the chips right out of my hands, greedy buggers!

Ok so we are finally at the end of the very   l o n g e s t   guessing competition in the history of blogging and my very first give away. I like to take my time about these things but I've learnt my lesson with this one........So idea was that you guess the total value of my little pink palace, down to the last cent. I'm in, it's working and the fly screens went on today so I'm Calling it finished (although the deck is yet to come).

Studio Move - only days away - total so far $23053.62

Well it's only days now till I get to move into my new studio. Yesterday it looked like this and then this morning the lino went in. I'll be pleased to put this competition to bed too, so I can get onto more. But who was to know it would take this long. Not me I've never built anything before in my life. This morning I've done a budget update and with only the electrician to pay the total is $23053.62. The winner of this very long running competition will be announced very very soon! So if you were one of my lovely guessers stayed tuned!

Thinking pink and pinker and pinkiest!

I promised heaps of photos of my studio addition but have not delivered. I'm not really sure what happened, I haven't even taken any which I know I'll regret. So today just as the day was ending I got out and took more than enough. I am really happy with the colour chosen, I'm going for a pink and black colour way, why? because I don't actually like alluminium windows and felt the only way that I could enjoy them is by puting pink in there with them. Now that I've got the windows I'm happier with the look but still went with the pink. I think pink black and cream is a perfectly acceptable retro colour choice, it's chic, it's fun and it's pretty. Everyone here doubted it but they are all convinced now that it's up, even the boys!

Stutio Budget - blown!

Well a lot has happened since I last wrote, the studio is at lock up stage just waiting on the gyprocker and painting before I can start to move in. The backyard is a total mess and my laundry just a no go zone, but small sacrifices I say. I've just been adding a few receipts up and come up with a balance of $19 649.76 spent in total leaving only $350.24 and so it is no secret that this budget is officially going over. While I think about where best to spend that I'm thinking about interior pattern and texture. Love these vintage magazine adds for contact vinyl, laminate and upholstery fabric - it's all fabric to me.

What's your colour! and balance update $4776.42

Well today it was suggested I start thinking about what colour I want to paint my new room. So for colour inspiration it's back to the vintage mags and while there I came across these paint ads so for a change from vintage fabric here's some paint. Oh and I also spent $1149.27 leaving a balance of $4776.42

Room addition BUDGET UPDATE $5925.69 left

Well the cash is really flowing out of my account like water this week. I've paid for extra timber and for the roofing materials. To come is hire of high scaffold, weatherboards and more. Total spent this week $1363.01 leaving a balance of $5925.69 from the original budget of $20 000.

Building update: Budget balance $7288.70 left

Well work has seriously started here, horrah!! Wood delivered today and bits and bobs brought home from the local hardware. I paid the balance on the windows and doors and put a deposit on the flooring, it's all GOOD!! A new much more experienced and - best bit - cheaper, Carpenter was found amongst old friends, he's due Monday. I can't quite believe it, it really is happening! So far still on target but have lots yet to pay for. Happy Happy Me!!

Guessing Competition UPDATE $10 858.80 left

Just a quick update on the LONGEST GUESSING COMP FABRIC GIVEAWAY IN BLOG LAND!! yep right here at My Place. The comp is still on, just guess the grand total of my new Studio Addition and win fabric!! On Friday I paid for the first lot of building materials, over the phone, very modern for a timber yard and much appreciated. Cost $2080.00 which leaves a balance of
$10 858.80 and now even I know it's going to go over the $20 000 limit. Luckily I've saved a bit more since this all started. Guessing Competition STILL ON

Well as I said on Twitter this has to be the longest guessing competition / giveaway in the history of blogging, what was I thinking? Anyway anyway it's still going strong. Here is your chance to win a lovely piece of vintage cotton fabric, gorgeous 50s embossed with big roses! A real beauty and a full yard too. So if you are feeling like being sweet and making my day have a guess!

What you need to do is guess the grand total of the cost of my Studio Room Addition, my budget is $20 000au (and so far so good but) I've still got a lot to pay for. Nice fabric huh?

Budget update, windows ordered.

Well I just ordered and paid for 50% of the widow order, they are going to be the most expensive part of the building but I think the most important. No point having a room like this without light and air flow and view. So I handed over a cheque for $3432.50 leaving a balance of $12 938.80. It's going to be very tight.

Room addition BUDGET UPDATE $16371.30

We've had a few days of rain so there had been no movement on the addition, then yesterday and today the brick piers went up. Boy are they tall! The yard slopes away much more than I thought and seems the room is now very high off the ground with the piers much more obvious than I had planned. The height may also mean that my deck/steps may have to be reconsidered. There were extra expenses with the piers since the council required rods up the middle of the piers and there were 80 extra bricks laid. Bricklayer $1392. Lovely guy Paul Cooksley - Highly recommended even though he laughed at my brick choice.

Budget update balance $17 763.30

Just a quick update on the budget so far, raining here today so no photos yet but the bricklayer got the foundation cement into the holes he also moved the bricks to the back yard. He doubted anyone would want to nick them, huh!! & he laughed at my retro bricks, well I never!! Two cheques to catch up on today, the air conditioner was moved yesterday and that cost $137 and the concrete arrived this morning $234.00 leaving a balance of $17 763.30. This has to pay for the building materials, the builder, the door and windows, sky light, flooring, paint, shelves, lighting and electrician and anything else I've forgotten. I have to say the whole thing is rather stress free the worst thing so far has been the decisions on what weather board to use and what windows etc. There is still plenty of time to get a guess in and win.

Budget Update Balance $18 134.30

Today the bricklayer (name coming later) arrived to dig holes and the bricks arrived as scheduled. It's rained on and off and the lovely bricklayer is working very hard to get it done. I am so glad I made the trek to the brickworks yesterday - Broadmeadow Brick yard - where I scored a bargain. Over ordered bricks $100 plus $75 delivery, about $150 down on the estimate for bricks! Yay! I do love a bargain and they are nice bricks, white with a rock face. Later today I have to pay for cement and for the air conditioner unit to be moved. The cheques are flying out the door now. It's very exciting.

I just had this thought about what and how I can give away since that seems to be 'the thing'. As you may or may not know I'm building a little 'studio' and I have a tiny budget of $20 000 (see earlier posts). What if you guess exactly how much it will cost me and I will give you a full yard of this Vintage cotton embossed fabric. It's a bit like a 'how many jelly beans are in this jar' type of contest, could be fun. I will record the expenses as they happen but your guesses have to be in my the end of July, cut off time 31st.
