Holiday Shopping!

BossyGirl and I spent the afternoon at a local shopping centre. 

I found the whole experience ugly and soul destroying.

It felt pointless and a waste of time.

But maybe that was because I had nothing I needed to buy?

Bossy didn't feel that way. She had $10 holiday money

and it had to be spent. 

She came home with a new very fluffy Beanie Kid and is happy. 

I did find something at the end, a bottle of Spiritual Sky Oil in

Strawberry scent and one whiff took me way back to my 

14th year. And a particular trip to Paddy's Markets

when I had my bag stolen off the train. In that bag

were all my 'treasures' including my Spiritual Sky. 

I still miss that bag.

In the toy shop there was a sign that read 

'it's never too late to have a happy childhood' 

So I bought a bottle!

And then later today I added these tiny pieces to the store.

The long Car-less day. And a cake.

We've been stranded this weekend. 

(Beware new cars sometimes have electrical faults that are a mystery even to the people who sell you the car!)

So yes we have been car-less.

It's a totally different feeling when it's forced on you that when you choose it.

We had things to get to, I canceled some even though we could have caught a bus and a train and then a train and a bus to get there and back. I canceled.

We did bus it to school Friday then Saturday to Bossy's drama class, two busses actually. 

I then sat at the only place convenient for the duration and had coffee (McD's), was forced to read the paper even though I've sworn off the news!

Then we bussed it back, walked, dawdled, rushed, bussed and arrived home exhausted.

Today stranded at home.

It's not all bad though. 

Bossy is fully rested since she TV'd and DS'd most of the day.

We did make a super delish butter cake. 

I washed, vacuumed, even dusted! 

Then getting into the spirit of not driving I even ordered my groceries on-line for delivery tomorrow! Almost fun. A visit to the park, eating cake and the day is almost over. 

But before I pour that glass of wine I'll show you our cake.

And then I'm going to collapse.

all weekend,  (it's a favourite now)

and so she had to create a cake for a queen.

When you arrive on page one of Google's search for 'vintage fabric' from about 8,250,000 results!!! you know all the hard work has been worth it. It's only taken me 6 months but there I am, page one & page three with my ebay store and page three with my website:

What's up for 2010?

Big thanks to my loyal followers, I appreciate you all for hanging in there when there's not been much to read here lately. No I've not been off lying about eating Lindt chocolates all day  - well I have been doing that a bit, (I tell you Lindor balls in this heat when the interior turns to liquid.... Simply Divine!!)  but no, mostly I've been: playing with and taking Bossy Girl about, getting older (birthday), waiting for things to happen (my mechanic is not back from holidays and I can't venture too far without repairs), planning and worrying about the future and trying to get my new web store stocked and functional.

I'm still not sure if it even works, obviously there have been no sales. But I'm figuring it's because no one knows about it yet.  When I'm done with all that I'll be back. 

I have lots of plans for 2010 including Kayaking! Kindness, Further Education and of course lots and lots of Vintage Fabric.

Take a Trip!

Last night I went on a heady trip!! and woke this morning feeling like I really did pop some acid. Not sure how it began or where but I do remember thinking that I'd look around for web site ideas for my own. I ended up in the Netherlands and man!!! I could not leave, it was late and getting later and still there I was in the dark wide eyed and entranced. Infact if you had seen me I'm pretty sure I would have had those cartoon eyes with whirlpools in them? anyway so here's a little bit of what I found, feast your eyes and drift into a psychedelic hazy dream. Shopping on-line, New for me

Also just before we walked out the door last Thursday the mail man arrived and we all know how exciting that is, especially when the parcels are roundish and softish and come from the USA! Usually fabric and crafty stuff....true? well not this time but it was something equally as fun - SOCKS! yep all 9 pair of gorgeous cotton rich striped socks from SOCK DREAMS. Their website at first does not look too exciting (I'm not a fan of black backgrounds) but the socks are just lovely, especially my recycled cotton ones from Oregon WA. One pair fit BossyGirl and she's not had them off for three days. Needless to say she's keen to get more. The shipping was high so I reckon share with someone else. Shopping on-line is new to me in a way, I usually only buy stuff I plan to sell. However, my experience lately with Kids clothes being really unattractive for BossyGirl's age (size 8-10) has forced me to the internet. I'm excited by what I find and will be writing more.
